Students in grades 3-6 are invited to attend Wake-up Wednesdays each Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:05. It is appreciated that the students arrive on time at 8:30 a.m. to join in the freetime and games. When students arrive late, they will miss instructions for games or our guidelines.
Recently, Mrs.Buckmaster has located tennis rackets, portable tennis nets and tennis balls for the students to try out tennis. We will spend some time learning techniques for tennis in preparation for the spring!
Wake-up Wednesday is a fantastic opportunity for students to enjoy the gym in an environment that they create, to develop a love of physical activity, and to wake up and get going before school starts. The goal is to assist in creating a life-long love for physical activity and school!
Please encourage your child to join their classmates each Wednesday morning at Stewart Nicks School!

Literature Circles-Grade 3 & 4
The grade three and fours are starting Literature Circles this week. Each student will have a introduction package sent home for parents to read. Included in the package will be a calendar, student responsibility note, and letter to parents. Each student will keep a calendar and responsibility note in their Literature Circle duotangs as a constant reminder of what to do next. Students will not have a set time to read their novels in class and will need to do so each night during their 20 minutes of reading. We will not be recording reading logs for the next 3 weeks. If you have any questions, please contact me at the school 757-2051 or through your child's agenda.
Thanks,
Miss Morrell

Wake-up Wednesdays
Wake-up Wednesdays is going very well! The students from grades 3-6 are invited to join Mrs. Buckmaster and myself in the gymnasium each Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. The first Wednesday was in December. We spent 35 minutes doing a limited free choice activity. Most students showed interest in a structured activity, like a game. Last week we played Food Fight with Mrs.Buckmaster's tennis balls. Today, we played a game with scooters that seemed to go over well!
We have some regulars that are showing up each morning at 8:30 a.m. Before Christmas the attendance peaked at 19 students out of a possible 37. In January, attendance is much slower with a maximum of 12 students today.
Just a few reminders to any students in grades 3-6 that is interested in attending next week.
